Rockefeller Park
Landscape Design

Battery Park City, New York, NY
1992

Since its opening in 1992, Rockefeller Park has drawn a large and diverse population of urban dwellers to its expansive open spaces, social settings, play areas and gardens. This 7.5 acre park, comprising the largest parcel within Battery City, affords spectacular views of the Hudson River and lower Manhattan skyline. As consulting landscape architect Nancy W. Denig, ASLA, collaborated with Carr Lynch Hack and Sandell, Inc. on the site planning and created the planting design in consultation with Oehme van Sweden & Associates Inc. The photographs below feature the Park’s lush array of aquatic, waterside, forest edge and ornamental plantings, which are among the hallmarks of Ms. Denig’s work.
