Forbes Library
Northampton, Massachusetts

2005

DDA’s master plan for Forbes Library envisions grounds benefiting a grand Romanesque revival building. A new entry drive and parking area tame encroaching cars and open up the Library’s frontage for visitor circulation and amenities. An accessible semi-circular walkway leads to an entry terrace, as it once did in 1895. The mature Pin Oaks that line the street are limbed up for street side visibility. A decorative metal fence and granite entry piers is added for an institutional identity and ease of orientation.
